Promotion IPS

 I WONDER : 1992 BATCH ARMY = COLONEL ONLY

Lalit  Das of 1992 batch is being promoted to the rank of IG in Orissa.

  1. The IG may put on badges of rank akin to a major general but salarywise he gets paid less than a colonel because the latter gets MSP of Rs 6000 pm which more than compensates the higher grade pay that the IG gets.

  2. Dear Anonymous,

I HOPE U UNDERSTAND THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN GRADE PAY OF 8700 AND 10000/- AND ITS INHERENT IMPLICATIONS,THIS IS THE LEAST I WANT TO SAY.

  3. I understand the difference of Rs 4700 in favour of a colonel and the implication that a colonel gets a higher salary than an IG.

  4. Then it appears that u dont understand the INHERENT IMPLICATIONS.

    1. The IG get 7000+35%DA= Rs 9450/- as transport allowance(if claimed, he is entitled a AC vehicle) where as a colonel(not entitled a any vehicle) if in class X city will get 3200+35%=Rs 4320/- and in other cities even further less. so its in favour of IG by a minimum of Rs 5130/-.

    2. IG can travel in AC car, a colonel cant.

    3. Air Travel: IG can travel in EXECUTIVE class and Colonel in Economy class.

    4. Hotel reimbursement : for IG 5000 per day and for food 500/- per day whereas for Colonel 3000 per day and 300 for food per day.

    5. govt accommodation entitlement : for IG its TYPE VI-B(CII) and for Colonel its TYPE- V-B(DI)

    6. IG moves with star plate. A Colonel cant.

So if u r a IG then please feel happy and if u r a fauji then kindly wake up.

  5. From pay scale you have digressed into the realm of perks and confused the issue.I was talking of the salary only. What has star plate got to do with it.There are many allowances and perks that a colonel will get which a police officer does not.Compare what is comnparable otherwise you will get totally confused as the two services are not comparable.Their service conditions are totally different.

  6. I just high lighted my point of INHERENT IMPLICATIONS and Official benefits. I m not highlighting unofficial benefits at all.

Going by your logic a serving govt Doctor gets more pay bcoz of 25% NPA then both Colonel & IG but it doesn't mean he is higher in status.

Hence I m convinced that higher grade is a issue for armed forces as it adversely affects the status of army men and also b'coz of more reasons like:

    1. Lower fixation of grade pay for army officers in 6th CPC by neglecting 5th CPC Rank Pay as part of basic pay, which now even Supreme Court has accepted and Govt has lost the case and now govt has gone to SC requesting them to have a relook on decision siting financial problems.

    2. Incorrect comparison of rank stucture shown in 6th CPC documents between Army and IPS and thereby incorrectly favouring the IPS.

    3. Implementation of MACP which ensures every Group A service follows IAS grade pay scale with a maximum time lag of two years. that means if an IAS gets 10000 GP today non-IAS Group A offr will definitely get it after two years from now.

    4. If u r considering free rations (Rs 35.55/-) and CSD facilities then plz remember all PMF/BRO are getting it too and moreover after implementation of VAT on CSD, CSD price is comparable to market price for example a MACH 3 four blade set will cost 310 MRP(mind it its MRP, actual price may be even lesser or may be 300 itself) in civil and Rs 300 in CSD.

BUT YES I AGREE WITH YOU THAT BOTH ARE DIFFERENT SERVICES.
    LASTLY "RIP"

  7. none of the army officers r capable of clearing prilim exam of ics.some became officers in preparation of clarical grade .thank to their old rotten ssb. how much currupted officers they have selected

  8. Hope our 'OLQ' enriched officers will come out of their assumed status equations with the IAS/IPS Officers. You are NOT repeat NOT that grade. I can say this b'coz I have been myself through the SSB and the Civils and I can confidently say that it does not take one tenth of the efforts to get a commission. So, please don't fool yourself with such wrong ideas and talk some thing else if u want more perks.
